Chairs

Saffron Craig - Wednesday, October 21, 2009
We found these great chairs a while ago in a dusty cellar. Apparently they are Parker chairs and in much demand at the moment. I can see why. For a month I thought about the fabric I wanted to cover them with. The reddish wood worked well with pale greens.  I stuck sketches of my ideas for prints to the chairs, so we had flapping A4 paper to sit on for a while. It helped to have a visual reference. I wanted them to be "easy on the eye." Not to precious as I want to feel like I can use them. So I did not freak too much when Sequoia drew on them with a black texta. Hand made is hand made after all. :)

I printed the linen fabric which I have shown in an earlier blog post.

They are comfortable and very "me" which I can see now. You can buy a similar print here. Only five left so if you think you might want one? Go for it.

Fabulous. I love the design of the chair for starters and I adore your choice in fabric. Very creative and fresh. I however have wooden chairs solely because of my daughter Hannah's creative side. :-)

They look gorgeous. My parents have got parker chairs :) Did you do it yourself? Great job. And good to hear I'm not the only one whose daughter thinks her dining chairs need extra decoration...

Mollies old table

Saffron Craig - Tuesday, October 20, 2009
As a girl I went to visit my grandmother Mollie, she had this table which I always treasured. She used it as her knitting table. Now in a retirement village she has no room for it and I use it daily. Patrick surprised me by adding a piece of my hand printed fabric to the table.

It is my sewing table now. Rickety and old but loved by me. Messy most days as well.

Oh it's just lovely! And how wonderful to have some of your beautiful fabric now part of it. Totally unrelated, I bought some of your dressmaking weight owl fabric the other day with plans to make a skirt for me! It's such gorgeous fabric I hope I don't muck it up :)

hand prints

Saffron Craig - Tuesday, October 13, 2009
Hand printing fabrics is a lot of fun because it's messy, although quite exhausting and time consuming if you don’t have ample space and have to stand drying the ink with a hair dryer. I had a few ideas
I needed to try out on cloth and chose Belgian linen in an upholstery weight. I am in seventh heaven. I love the way linen soaks up the ink. I felt very excited and pleased with the results.

A quilt for Lennox

Saffron Craig - Friday, October 09, 2009

I have been keen to cut up the two new fabrics. I started stitching a cot quilt. I was asked to make a quilt for a new born baby boy. His mummy’s favourite colours are blue, brown and orange—coincidentally the colours of the new fabrics.  With a matching softie or two I hope to make one mummy delight.

I used  the new Brown Owl in Trees as the center panel and framed it with white fabric. I used the small Owl and Koala for the corners. I hand stitched the quilt. The center of the quilt in white and and the borders I stitched in blue in a scribbling follow-the-line feel. The dark blue thread was used for the first time, I bought it back in May. I am really in a stitching mood again. I was pleased what I could make with the three pieces of fabric. Owl in Trees brown, Owl and Koala Softies and the Dandelion Circles for the backing.

I made a bag for it to live in. Its in the post!

Manifestation board.

Saffron Craig - Monday, October 05, 2009
I have put together a manifestation board and I was wondering why I did not do this ages ago, as it is so much fun, all the cutting, sticking and glueing. Although not a new concept to me I never actually got to around to glueing those precious wishes into a scrap book. I made time when we got back from our Europe trip as I had 1200 photos to leaf through. I put my favorite ones on the board for a repeat experience.

My mediation teacher Bec is going overseas for the rest of the year, so no classes which means my weekly bonding with my friends is also over. Somewhat in a tis I thought "be pro active" and I added a wish to my daily acts of manifesting-"new friends with children Sequoia's age", which manifested itself very fast.
Last Monday when I picked up Sequoia from pre-school I was so pleased to be invited for an afternoon play date. Now this is the first time this year, at the end of term three I might add, where we are going on a play date after school. So glad no wine came out as I would have stayed way into the night.  We all had a ball. Then on Friday I was invited on another and yesterday we were invited to play with the guinea pigs visiting a new house for the third time in a week. This time wine did come out!

I have written a manifestation for every aspect of my life, I recognized that there are quite a few beliefs to be broken before I become as skilled as Sequoia who has no beliefs to break.

Some wishes seem to manifest fast and others slowly. Sometimes it feels like its immediate. Any how it keeps me thinking and dreaming about the life I wish to create. How I want to be as a person.

Another cool thing happened in the last week. As I was looking at where we are selling our fabrics to around the world and I noticed there was no shops in Alice Springs, in fact in the Northern Territory.  So I put that out there and in the morning we had an inquiry from Alice. It was very cool. Baby steps indeed. I think though for me I just need to trust and allow, smile and feel happy.
