Love the colors. The fabric is great for teen-age girls. The olive camoflage fabric is so popular with teens that this fabric can be incorporated into their wardrobe very easily.

I love the yellow and the pink dandelions. My daughter calls them 'wishes' and loves to pick them when we go walking. I can see them appearing on an outfit of hers in the near future :).

Grey Elephant Quilt

Saffron Craig - Thursday, April 23, 2009
How fabulous is it to work with grey? It adjust its self to any colour. which means I can make any combination of colours  for a quilt. This is for a baby boy. It is for sale. Mixing the Grey elephant fabric with fabrics from other designers created this quilt. It is hand stitched with embroidery threads of yellow orange red and blue. I had fun!

I still have a few grey elephants left in stock. The remains of my hand printed fabrics are dwindling, as the last pieces are posted to their new owners for inspiration. Off they go.

Lap Quilts

Saffron Craig - Sunday, April 19, 2009

Inspiration has me stitching. I seem to need to stitch into the night at the moment more than usual. Is it that its is cooler and I can snuggle under quilts? Or is it that I have so many pregnant friends? Or nervous energy as I wait to hear how Katherine and Jim are received as they  show Brisbane shops our new fabrics?
I am rummaging through boxes finding fabrics and combining them with my own. It is such fun to use up my fabrics and go through my stash. Then I realized "you never have enough" so I put in two orders for more. Some fabrics I discovered are are so special i am wondering "do I put that one in Rani's wedding quilt?" ( yeeks 4 weeks to go and I have only got 4 13 inch blocks so far! )

The lap quilts are a meter square. Excellent for a snuggle on your couch or a cot or wall.  They are all hand stitched and wadded with bamboo batting.  I am selling them for $130.00 each. So if you would like one please email me through  the contact us page. They are asking for a new home?

I used this as a colour experience. All shades of green with the grey.

I wanted to see how much yellow I could combine with pinks.

Milk from a thistle quilt

Saffron Craig - Friday, April 17, 2009
I have a gorgeous talented friend Danielle, she designed this exquisite detailed fabric.  For her label Milk from a Thistle Danielle designs her fabrics from detailed hand drawn black and white sketches and makes it into clothing. Have a look in her online shop www.milkfromathistle.com.

I love this fabric and bought two dresses from her this summer. I kept thinking how nice it would be to make up a quilt for her. So the quilt  grew and grew to become 145cm wide and 200cm long. I hand stitched this quilt, every night for a long time and it really was the labour of love I wanted it to be. I am going to send it to her now.

The good news is I can sell this fabric to you, all you need to do is contact me through this website. The fabric costs AU$ 50.00 per meter and is 145cm wide on cotton voile.

Parrot

Saffron Craig - Friday, April 17, 2009
The parrot flew in printed on fabric this week. I am so pleased, its great designing in three colours.
The inspiration for this design came from all the parrots that fly around our house. They are brilliant, inquisitive birds and at the moment they are feeding their young in their nests.
I love pink and red together and I have this love for yellow. What are your thoughts?

These are my new designs of the second range, the Fields range.

It's taken me six months and they have finally arrived, well at least the strike-offs, which is like a proof from the printers. Feel free to comment on any of them, as I'd really like to know what everyone thinks of them...

Saffron these fabrics are gorgeous! I especially love the Dandelion field and the Dandelion circles. The yellow is great - I just painted a wall in that yellow last year and at first it was a bit full on but I'm enjoying it now. Looking forward to seeing these in your shop!

New fabric designs - Owl range

Saffron Craig - Wednesday, April 08, 2009
We've got two new ranges coming out in June, here are the designs of the first one, the Owl range. We have printed these on 112 cm wide fabric, so you can buy them by the meter.

These fabrics are currently being printed and will be for sale in a few weeks we will send out a newsletter letting you know when they are for sale.

The owls on trees is a new version with smaller trees and more flying owls.

The trees mignon now a two colour tree with one row of the trees flipped.

The gingko blossoms are smaller and more compacted.

And the new nesting owls, it's a large repeat of 64 cm and 112 cm wide, great for the center of a quilt or a wall hanging. I am going to make a jacket for my daughter out of this one.

New Team

Saffron Craig - Tuesday, April 07, 2009
The last few months have seen some exciting  changes in the direction of our business, but we're excited to have teamed up with Kathryn Broomhall, sales, and Jim Broomhall, for production and distribution. So the wholesale side of Saffron Craig fabrics will now be handled entirely by Jim and Katherine. What a treat. Katherine makes you want to sit down and relax drink tea and laugh, while Jim is a ball of energy so I know he will be thorough.
The retail side of the fabric sales will continue to be available through my website and you should see the fabrics up here very soon.

As a matter of fact, today Jim received the new strike offs for my next range. Katherine and I have just spent two hours admiring the workmanship and design. It amazes me how much better designs appear in the —well, on the fabric—compared to on paper.
I thought I might share a sneak peak with you. A strike-off is the first print, where we approve colour and fabric, the printers have done a great job so it is all going ahead. We now have to wait a couple weeks to see it printed on a roll of fabric. Then I will be selling 112cm wide fabric, on beautiful quality cotton.

If you would like to sell the new range please email me and I will ask Katherine to visit you with the fabrics.
Katherine left me with the fabrics tucked under her arm off to see Sydney shops.  Love it!!!
