We're so excited, our first range of 2 colour prints have arrived!
I've designed two panels inspired by hot Australian Christmases with "make your own" Santa stockings and decorations. I also added a backing fabric which looks just great with about anything.
I'm especially pleased about the detail of the prints and the vibrancy of the colours. You can buy them here.
These are some of the drawings that I have been working on. They are on a screen and I should be seeing them by Friday.
I chose to show you these drawings because there is a lovely story about how they came to me.
I was in my mediation class at Perfect Unison in Curl Curl on the Northern Beaches in Sydney and I visualized or channeled a huge elk coming though the ancient forest, one which human beings had not stepped foot on.
The elk said to me "what a strange and splendid sight".
I sketched him right away and redrew him for a few hours until I captured the essence of the way he appeared to me. So this is very special to me. Will let you know as soon as the fabric is available.
It will be a splendid sight indeed!
There's a new online fabric shop you should all check out. Besides my own fabrics Elissa sells exquisite designs on her beautiful site.
Well done! www.kelanifabric.com.au/
I've been madly making quilts for the Sydney Design Festival 08 where I'll be selling my fabrics, quilts and other little goodies.
Check out my quilts in the Gallery page as they are all for sale and come and see me this week at the Young Blood Designer Market at the Powerhouse!
I have been drawing a
lot and half filled up my sketch book with black and white drawings of flowers and
in particular dandelions.
I have been playing around with the delicate petals
and stamens and the silhouettes. Its been fun. I think the warm sunshine has me
thinking of spring.
Each
week I try to go
somewhere I have never been before, so on Saturday we headed to
Cockatoo island
to see parts of the Sydney biennale. It was so very beautiful, the
buildings that housed the art
were art themselves. We took some photos of those marvellous textures
and my favourite exhibit was a projection onto walls in a darkened
store room. I think that I will have to do a
sandstone brick print one day. Its such a magnificent stone.
Sunshine, art and 4
ferry rides - we had a great day.
Jeez. I've been living under a rock. I've never been over here before! It's so lovely. And SUCH SUCH SUCH beautiful photos. Good on you for being so good.
I was commissioned to make a quilt for a new born baby boy so I went to Material Obsession in Gladesville and bought some fabrics to go with the my owl trees and dinosaurs. There I also got inspired to use pearl cotton in big stitches. I was so inspired by the new fabrics that I made it on the day! The finished size is 70 x 100cm.
Your patterns are very refreshing! Thanks for the look.

I bought some of your fabric at the craft show and was planning a trip to Material Obsession to find fabrics to add to your ones...thanks for the ideas in your new quilt!
A few weeks ago I lost my wallet, what a nuisance that is! But I though I make the most of it and sew up these two purses. I got the purse frames from Nicole Mallalieu Design online and presto, my coins aren't rolling around in my handbag anymore.
Let me know if you'd like the pattern for it and I'll send it to you (along with some fabric that you may order...)
After months of printing and planning it's come and gone, but what a week it was. 5 long and rewarding days, thank you for everyone stopping by; especially those who bought some of my fabrics and quilt kits!
We're very happy with the outcome and are already planning our next show. But first things first. We're going to answer all your emails and add some more products to our website.
I was very inspired by the show and even made up a little bag with my textiles, I will post a picture very soon.
Looking forward to seeing some new things and buying more! Well done on the show. I love my fabrics!!

I happened to go to the craft show on a stop over in Sydney on my way to Vietnam... and I'm so glad I did. Fresh, original and whimsical. My Saffron Craig fabric stash has only just begun!
