I
have been curious about embroidery since I met Nicole in Holland. I
have been taking in as much inspiration as I could find to start my
own piece, reading books and blogs. But after watching Bright Star I came home
and knew it was time to start my first embroidery project.
My sketch book has a lot of sketched ideas for appliqué blocks, so I took one of the drawings, drew the sketch onto fabrics and started to embroider it. Back stitching in various coloured threads, then I filled in the shapes. It's very much a start but I'm starting to get a feel for it.

I just love your embroidery technique I feel I must make a comment to encourage you to continue. It looks like a child's painting the way the threads vary in direction and color. Little girls will just love it (and also big girls. I look forward to the finished product it will look so gorgeous and unique on a childs quilt. Keep at it.

Wow, that's an ambitious project you started here (in size) but the drawing/sketch is very suitable for embroidery. You've got quite a sketchy intuitive embroidery style which is very refreshing. And I love the pink and oranges together, one of my favourite colour combo's!
