Blue Bird My New Hand Screen Printed Fabric

Posted on December 10, 2013 by Saffron Craig | 7 comments

Here is a design that I have been working on using photo realistic printing. I am excited to share it with you. It's a wonderful little Blue Bird which I have enlarged to be 4 times it's natural size.

It was so exciting to have a new screen to print—it had us up super early in the morning enthusiastic at the thought of printing our new design. We mixed up few different colours to experiment with. The design is printed onto a wonderful linen fabric. It is the same fabric that I have been using in my workshops and everyone is really happy with the quality. It sews well and has a wonderful handle.

Later—once the panels were dry I sewed up two of the freshly printed  Blue Bird with the Apple Blossoms into cushions, surrounding the funky birds with blue pom poms! I am so happy with the results.

These look great. So how did you do this? Did you take a photograph yourself, and take it from there? How cool is that!

Saffron, they all look absolutely fantastic! I especially like the cushion with blue pom poms although it’s hard to pick a favourite between them.
I look forward to taking some more workshops with you next year :)
