The Wollongong Modern Quilt Guild Screen Printing and Fabric Design Workshop
Over the weekend I was in the Illawarra teaching a two-day workshop for the Wollongong Modern Quilt Guild. I met the dynamic Rachael—the president of the guild—at the Darling Harbour Show last June.
I drove down early Saturday morning with the family in tow. My Uncle and Aunt had kindly offered for us to stay with them and their two dogs. Thanks to Mal and Sharon Craig!
On Saturday I showed the group how to screen print fabrics which produced some wonderful designs. On Sunday their gorgeous fabrics were carefully and meticulously cut into and then sewed into a variety of things, matching little girls dresses, table runner for Christmas, bags, clutches, quilts, quilted cushions. It was an industrious and happy two days for us all.
The WMGQ really knows how to cook! So as a special treat I got to enjoy the fruit of other peoples labour—usually I am the cook. We ate amazing food over the two days! YUM! Which made it an even more special weekend. We were all asking for the recipes and so they were traded.
Here are some pictures I took over the weekend. I hope you enjoy them.
Thanks for inviting me down WMGQ, I truly enjoyed getting to know you all. And a special thanks to Rachael who was a wonderful host.
By the way, Rachael screen printed the funky chickens, which everyone loved.
I am hoping to run another workshop for some of the other members in the new year.
