New Textile Artworks Available— Inspired by Summer 2018
My current work shown here is from my collection called Summer of Love is the conversation between what we love to do and how we love to be. Stitching through my paintings is for me the essence of giving and receiving; an act of remembering beautiful moments, imaginatively and intellectually and physically to share with you. While I embroider my work, I find a calm and tranquil place within me from which I can share and produce art. My art comes from the beautiful sense that there is nothing wrong with the world and there is only that inner state of natural exchange.
The breath, the autonomic giving and receiving that forms the basis, and the measure of life itself, this body of work is a crafty conversation between the experience which I feel, the moments of happiness and peace juxtaposed with the textures that life shares in its abundance.
The deliberate choice of the hot pink represents the heat of Summer and the living that Summer persuades me to enjoy. The golden pigments represent the sunshine the giver of life. The images expressed in my work are often seen on my walks along the foreshore. Symbolism appears in my work such as the stitched white circles represent bubbles of the air that we breathe and create life.
